The Complete Guide To 2024 Art Basel And Miami Art Week: Events, Exhibits And Exclusive Parties
This year’s Miami Art Week and Art Basel Miami Beach promise to bring the best of the art community to the Magic City along with a slew of events, art installations, exhibitions and parties.

As a Miami native, I can attest to the transformative power of Miami Art Week. I remember many years ago when I would tell friends I was from Miami and our city’s only claims to fame were Miami Vice and Scarface. Fast forward a few decades, and now Miami Art Week is known as “The Super Bowl of the Art World.” With hurricane season thankfully behind us, this is the perfect storm we have been waiting for: great weather, great art and great parties. With no rain in sight and temperatures for Miami Art Week hovering in the mid-70s, I can’t imagine a better place to be.
The centerpiece of Miami Art Week is Art Basel Miami Beach, which took root in Miami back in 2002 when the city was known chiefly for its beaches and party scene. But Art Basel brought a whole new level of cool and sophistication to the city, igniting an art renaissance that has taken over the city year-round with incredible galleries and museums that have popped up all around Miami.
The fair quickly became a huge event, attracting art collectors, curators, and artists from all over the world. As Art Basel grew bigger and better, so did the number of satellite fairs and art events popping up around it. Boom! Miami Art Week was born.
Art Basel has completely changed Miami. It has revitalized neighborhoods, boosted the local economy and put Miami on the global art map. Since the pandemic, Miami has attracted even more collectors to call the Magic City their home, which has led to a major upgrade in the city’s skyline and luxury scene.
And let’s not forget the parties. Miami Art Week isn’t just about the art. It’s also about the parties, the fashion and the celebrity sightings. From exclusive dinners, private art talks and gallery openings to yacht parties, there’s always something happening. It’s a week of non-stop fun and excitement—and here is a rundown of everything you need to know about Miami Art Week.

Goldie Hawn is reflecting on raising her daughter Kate Hudson — and how she “didn’t know what to say” when Hudson posed a tough question to her at just six years old.
On Friday, Dec. 6, the 79-year-old Oscar winner spoke during a panel at The Wellness Oasis presented by Chase in Miami, where she shared a wholesome anecdote about motherhood, religion and a difficult line of questioning.
“My daughter Katie, she was six, and she said, ‘Mommy is God my cousin?’ And I didn’t know what to say,” Hawn said while speaking at 1 Hotel South Beach during Art Basel week.
“I said, ‘Actually, God could be your cousin. God is everywhere. But, maybe it’s better if I tell you what God feels like. You know the feeling you have just before you’re going to laugh? Where all that joy is all in you? If you could just keep that in before you guffaw, that’s what God is. That’s what God feels like,'” she added at the event, produced by 4B Advisory.

Outside of reflecting on motherhood, Hawn has also been open about becoming a grandmother of eight.
During a Nov. 20 episode of Making Space with Hoda Kotb, The First Wives Club alum shared how being a grandmother impacted her after she first welcomed a grandchild to the family with the birth of Hudson’s oldest child, Ryder, in 2004.
“When Ryder was born, Kate’s first, I still had a kid at home,” she said, referring to her son Wyatt, who was a teenager at the time.

Hawn then described the “unbelievable” transition from being a mom to being a grandmother. “It’s an unbelievable weave that starts to happen when your children start to have children. But they’re the parents,” she said. “And what one has to be careful is that we don’t want to be a horn that’s always saying, ‘Why’d you do that?’ and, ‘They should do this,’ and whatever. So Kurt and I give them full autonomy.”
While she added that she does “miss being a mother,” Hawn revealed that it’s “important to cherish” that she was the “it girl” in her children’s lives at one point.
“I do love being a grandmother, but I’m not the boss. I’m just the one that can deliver happiness to them, and also an ear if they need it,” she said.

He noted: “When I go to create, I’m like, ‘Well, I want this to be relatable to a lot of different people.’ ”Jonas said, “You’re so vulnerable when you release music or you’re on stage, and I really try to make an effort to share my heart and give it all.”
